Jess grew up in a small town on the Oregon coast where cows outnumber people. It was there that she first learned about the power of community and the strength of collaboration. Jess studied at University of Oregon, holding a B.S. in Political Science with a minor in Planning, Public Policy, and Management, and a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management. Currently, Jess leads the Ford Institute Leadership Program for RDI in rural communities, mostly in the Willamette Valley. More recently, Jess was the longtime two-square champion of her neighborhood…until a couple of plucky 5th graders practiced hard and unseated her title.
