Making Local Government Work for You

We’re thrilled to be spotlighted in Oregon House District 9 Representative Caddy McKeown’s newsletter. In October, Representative McKeown helped kick off our three-part civic engagement program in the Coos Bay/North Bend area. At that first session, panelists including Representative McKeown and local elected officials Eric Farm, Port of Coos Bay Board of Commissioners VP, and David Brigham, SWOCC Board Chair, discussed their collective experiences in public service with an emphasis on how community members can get involved. During the second session, attendees learned from communications expert Rick Osborn. Through the process, participants learned to build connections to elected officials, navigate government processes, clearly define policy issues, and develop action plans to help local government work for them.

Thank you to The Ford Family Foundation for their generous support of this program.
