Ximena Lemus-Hernandez
Throughout most of my life, I have resided in my hometown located in Southern Oregon. My upbringing in a rural, agricultural community influenced an early passion for service and instilled a longing for representation.
For me, the opportunity to advocate for rural communities and promote their value is a mission that is extremely personal. I recognize the adversity rural communities must overcome to survive, because I have experienced a rural upbringing. Prior to working at Rural Development Initiatives, I worked with other nonprofit organizations, specifically within the education and advocacy realm.
I am a first generation American, but still have strong ties to my mother’s hometown in Michoacán, México. I am beyond proud of my culture, which has influenced a passion to serve my Spanish speaking and Latino community. When I’m not working, I enjoy going to concerts, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with my family.
