Tlacoyos Hidalgo style, pozole, gorditas from Durango, quesadillas de tinga de pollo, cheesecake and chocolate flan were some of the delectable delights created by aspiring entrepreneurs at the tasting event for RDI’s Food Business Training in Independence, OR. Held at the coworking community Indy Commons, this Spanish-language training for Latinx community members interested in learning to sell homemade food was delivered in partnership with the City of Independence, with support from Oregon Community Foundation. More than 20 participants attended this fall’s training, and learned the process for obtaining permits, prepared food in a commercial kitchen, and earned food handler cards.
RDI’s popular Food Business Training sessions cover topics including Food Safety and Legal Regulations, Business Registration, Costing and Pricing, Marketing and Sales, and Commercial Kitchens.
